Summer Solstice Hikes

 Hikers and amateur astronomers are invited to join the Cartersville Parks & Recreation Department as they host this guided hike on Cartersville's Pine Mountain Trail to celebrate the first day of summer. The hike departs from the West Trailhead at I-75 Exit 288 east and embarks on a 1.57 mile hike to the David G. Archer Overlook at 1,562 feet above sea level for a stunning view of Allatoona Lake, the Etowah River Valley and the City of Cartersville. Hike may be canceled due to bad weather. Morning and Evening hikes will be held. See arrival/departure times below:
Morning Hike - arrive at 5:30 AM and depart at 5:45 AM
Evening Hike - arrive at 7:45 AM and depart at 8:00 PM

Directions
EAST LOOP TRAILHEAD: I-75 Exit 290, GA 20 east, then right at traffic light onto Spur 20. Go approximately 4 miles to parking area on right. WEST LOOP TRAILHEAD: I-75 Exit 288, go east, then right at Pine Mountain Trail and Komatsu signs. The trailhead parking area is on the left just before the gated entrance to Komatsu.
