Red Top Mountain State Park, Cartersville, Georgia
9 a.m.-8 p.m. Hear the roar of the iron blast furnace once again in the Etowah Valley. The iron business in Bartow County was one of Georgia's very first heavy industries long before the Civil War. Take guided tours of the historic Iron Hill section of Red Top Mountain. Additional tours will visit Cooper's Iron Furnace, part of the once thriving town of Etowah that now sits under water at Allatoona Lake. Watch molten iron pour from an operating blast furnace at 2800 degrees Fahrenheit. See a 1/12-scale model of Cooper's Iron Furnace in operation and make your own unique iron souvenir during an evening iron pour. Exhibits of this colorful chapter in our history will be in the Lodge lobby all weekend. $3 park pass per vehicle admission.
