Cassville Historical Authors Luncheon
Website
August 23, 2008

Bartow County Seniors Center
Noon-2 p.m. Sponsored by the Cassville Historical Society. Featuring two guests authors, one of which is no stranger to Bartow County. Author Dana E. Davis formerly worked for Cartersville Newspapers, Inc. Currently she is an independent researcher in southern U.S. History. Davis has a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of Georgia. She will discuss her most recent book, "Tomorrow is better: The Story of the Kingston Woman's History Club 1861-Tomorrow." Written in narrative form, the book tells the club's story through the eyes of four generations of altruistic women who weathered war, fire, financial obstacles, and even General Sherman's occupation. Guests will also hear from Cartersville resident and author Susan May. May is a substitue teach and leads workshops on time management and organization. Her appreciation of books began when she made a bad grade in math in the 6th Grade. Not being allowed to watch TV for six weeks, she read. Later her interest in reading turned to a love for writing. Authors tend to write about what they know and May did just that. When her youngest son (she has four) was born with a serious heart defect and received a heart transplant she knew she had to tell his story. That's how her book, "Nick's New Heart" came into being. Call for tickets.
