A Tranquil Lakeshore

Ahh, just think of it - dappled sunlight peering through a pine forest swaying on a gentle breeze. A squirrel scampers merrily by as birds sing chatty with the morning news. And, just as you relax into your surroundings, there's a tug online, then an all out battle to land a fish...

What a thrill! Go gas up the car. You could be fishing alongside in a 45-minute escape from Atlanta. Cartersville's Allatoona Lake offers both excitement and tranquility - an easy respite for the city weary. Whether you spend a day, a weekend or a vacation here, you're sure to return grounded with fond memories.

"Lake Allatoona is becoming a great Spotted Bass lake"
Dale Watkins,
Georgia Director,
Southern Pro Bass Tournament

Four distinct seasons will keep you coming back for the best that Mother Nature has to offer.

Spring is a glorious time of year when the shoreline awakens with dogwood blossoms and the fish start jumping in anticipation of warm water. Seasonal campsites open and provide lakeside access in eight locations near I-75.

A beautiful sunrise on Lake AllatoonaSummer is a time for families. There are 435 places to picnic, three area marinas with boat rentals, and some great sites to hold the annual family reunion on Lake Allatoona.

Fall color and special events bring people to the mountains. This is an especially good time to visit due to mild temperatures continuing well into November.

Winter is the season often overlooked, but it's a great time for hiking and wildlife watching. Cool temperatures and early frosts are nature's way of cleaning out underfoot, making hiking trails and area wildlife especially visible.

See Camping & Marinas for fishing and lakeside details and Hiking for more ways to enjoy our Tranquil Lakeshore.
