Why notAtlanta?
When our first Internet site debuted many years ago, the URL notatlanta brought us many comments and questions, the most popular of which was "Why notatlanta?" Granted, we could have chosen many different identifying addresses, but most of them were simply too typical, too narrow, and too long. We tossed around several ideas and decided it would be best in the international market of the Internet to identify with our proximity to Atlanta.
Recognizing that Atlanta would be a calling card for people all over the globe, we set out looking for a new angle. Jokingly, we posed notatlanta; after all, the fact that we are close to, but not, Atlanta is the very reason that many travelers visit and stay with us each year.
Now don't mistake our direction - we love Atlanta! So much so, that we even polled our friends at the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau before registering the URL to see if they followed our whimsy. We were happy to hear laughs from every office. The rest is history, which happens to be another reason that people visit us here in Cartersville.
We are 45 miles north of Atlanta, yet 100 years away - and proud of both superlatives. And, speaking of superlatives, our proximity to Atlanta really does afford our visitors the best of both worlds. From Cartersville you can be seated behind home plate at a Braves baseball game or center stage at Atlanta's Fox Theater in about 45 minutes.
